Lebanon: “Dr. Food” Sentenced to Life of Hard Labor for Drug Manufacturing

Al-Taj News – The Mount Lebanon Criminal Court sentenced George Hanna Dib, known as “Food Blogger,” and several of his associates in absentia to life imprisonment with hard labor after convicting them of manufacturing and smuggling drugs, pursuant to Article 150 of Lebanon’s Drug Law.

The ruling included Kamal Abbas Ramadan and Abdul Karim Zaher Al-Salem, both Syrians detained in person; Ahmad Dolf Al-Youssef, a Syrian detained in absentia; Hassan Atiya Diab, detained in absentia; and Mohammad Abdullah Al-Ali, in addition to Dib.

The court ordered each of them to pay a fine of 120 million Lebanese pounds and stripped those convicted in absentia of their civil rights.

Earlier, Mount Lebanon Investigative Judge Ziad Al-Daghidi had charged “Food Blogger,” his company “Dr. Food Worldwide,” and ten others with manufacturing narcotic substances from cannabis, packaging them in biscuit products, and then shipping them from Lebanon abroad via Turkey, exploiting the company’s name and reputation to facilitate their promotion.
